Hello Leona Cox Families,

I’m Veronica Mullen, and I am incredibly proud and honored to serve as the new principal of Leona Cox Community School. I come to this wonderful community with over 21 years of experience in education, including 10 years as an administrator with Los Angeles Unified School District. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as an assistant principal right here in the Sulphur Springs Union School District.

It is truly an honor to step into this role at Leona Cox, a school known for its strong sense of community, dedicated staff, and commitment to student success. Our school is a place where strong partnerships between home and school are valued, and where every staff member is dedicated to helping students succeed every day. Together, we are committed to supporting each child’s growth, learning, and success. 

Our staff is enthusiastic and ready to continue moving Leona Cox and its students along the path of excellence. You will find that our school is a place where learning is joyful, relationships are meaningful, and students are celebrated for their unique strengths and talents.

I believe that one of the most important parts of my role as principal is building strong, trusting relationships with our students, families, and staff. You will see me around campus during arrival and dismissal, visiting classrooms, and connecting with families at school events. Being present and engaged helps me get to know your children and ensures that every student feels seen, heard, safe, and supported.
